About Rina

Rina de Jager

Rina de Jager is a born and bred South African. After her retirement from the Performing Arts, she immigrated to the UK where she lived for a number of years.

It was whilst she was there that she first became interested in watercolours. She attended art classes both in the UK and back in South Africa. Mainly self-taught, she attributes her skill to the many talented artists world-wide who are prepared to share their knowledge by way of books published on the subject.

She has worked in other mediums, but watercolour remains her favourite ‘The capriciousness of the medium is forever a challenge,’ she maintains, ‘You don’t always achieve what you set out to do, but it is never boring – and always inspiring ...’

Some of her works have been exhibited at the Manor Gallery of the Watercolour Society of South Africa (of which she is a member) and she has had a number of private exhibitions.
