About Charles

Charles Gibbons

Inspired to capture the unsurpassed beauty of Africa's wildlife on canvas since early childhood, Charles' progression as an artist has been simply phenomenal. Stock in trade wildlife snapshots freeze windows of African bush veld activity that are inspiring and truly unforgettable. Painting professionally for the past 20 years has culminated in an unprecedented demand for the audacious talent that is the hallmark of the Magalies Valley based artist. This has enabled Charles to tap into commissioned hbased work for corporates and the serious collector, which has included the following:
- Abstract
- Ethnic
- Portraits
- Wildlife

The broad meaning of the word artist fits comfortably with the versatility found in Charles' painting styles and subject matter.

Traveling extensively throughout Southern Africa and exploring the uniqueness of the flora and forna, and also doubling as an avid photographer, Charles has amassed a large collection of reference material.

"Each time I unroll a new canvass and prepare a surface for a new painting adventure," Charles says, "my spirit and soul are poured into what I can only describe as a labour of love, for my people, love for the upliftment of the less fortunate, and love for my subject matter."

Charles has had several one man exhibitions and his works sit in boardrooms and homes around the world. Not forgetting to mention that he was the winner of the Zim Brown Velvet 2014 art award. Amongst other awards presented to other individual in the various fields of music, fashion, sport, philanthropy etc, Charles was honoured to be recognised for his art!
