Reference huang4x About "Huang Garden, Shanghai" Gardens in China are very beautiful and spiritual but to me they also reflect China's rather uncomfortable relationship with nature. This was one of the indoor gardens of an "important governors" house. In the city, very few people have the prrivilege of having their own private garden and even though there are beautiful public gardens, no one is allowed to walk or sit on the grass. In other words you can't experience the garden - you can just look at it. The same applied with this indoor garden. An intensely beautiful space with exotic and inspirational plants, that you can't sit in - just look it. It was like looking at a garden set in a cage! |
