About "Jewel of Cape Town"

Cape town is one of the most beautiful places in South Africa and I have always admired Table Mountain for its beauty and can not imagine our country without it. I tried my best to capture her beauty by doing a painting of her. The reason why I used a lot of yellow undertone here as well is to symbolize the joy she brings to other people as yellow is a very "cheerful" color for me.

About Andre

Andre van Wyngaardt

Afrikaans:
Liefde, Andre

English:
I recall the days when I as a child travelled with my mom and dad to see their clients. My parents were art dealers. They used to make it very comfortable for me as I was on the road with them selling all these beautiful works of art. During this time, or so I believe, I developed my passion for art and that's where everything started. As a child I enjoyed keeping myself busy with my coloring books and it wasn't long when I discovered I could easily draw. The years went by and I thoroughly enjoyed making sketches and I count myself very lucky to had art as a subject throughout my school years. After school I enjoyed working with pastel as a medium but I quickly fell in love with oil colors and that's when I decided to paint for a living. My mom, as an art dealer, sold my work until her sudden death in 2010. I stopped painting for sixteen months as it reminded me too much of my mom and how she encouraged me to paint. I found love and this angel of mine motivated and encouraged me to start painting again in September 2011 and I admit that I discovered a passion for painting I didn't have earlier. I believe my art developed a lot through the years and I have learned not only to paint with my right hand but with my heart. Nowadays I can see my own style in my work and I hope to inspire through my art. Enjoy my art and know that your support means the world to me. Love, Andre
