About "Namaqua Cottage"

The tranquillity of a little cottage on the Namaqualand coast, where life is simpler, slower, but also tougher. For a short while once year, this barren landscape bursts into flowering colour, a reward for those who choose it unforgiving harshness.

About Louise

Louise van Wyk

I was born in Kimberley in 1970. From an early age, my grandfather, who was also a painter, saw that our Heavenly Father had blessed me with artistic talent and encouraged me to draw.

I studied Art and Design at Free State Technicon and worked as a Graphic Designer for 13 years. Six years ago I started painting, and a new world opened up to me.

I believe that a work of art is as much a result of exploration as it is a process of exploration in itself. Through the exploration of actual light, I explore the Spiritual light and peace within myself and my world.

I search for beauty and simple joy in this world, and would like to bless the viewer with a glimpse into that search.
