Liza Kirby is a South African Artist born in 1972.
Her passion for art started at an early age, where she found immense solace in painting and drawing. After graduating from Natal Technikon with a National Diploma in Clothing Design, she moved to Cape Town to pursue a career in the Fashion Industry.
Eventually, her need to paint more lead her to refocus, and she embarked on an artistic journey of exploration and self-discovery.
Today Liza paints from her studio in La Lucia, finding ways to further express feelings and stir emotion through spontaneous strokes, colour and light. She paints in oils and would describe her work as expressions of emotion, always looking beyond the subject to find the truth.
Liza does not endeavour to portray the obvious, but rather to reflect what is unspoken, unseen and felt. Whether her subject is figurative, portraiture, wildlife, stills or landscapes, the message remains the same: something to be felt and experienced rather than simply seen.
