About Klaus

Klaus Gunther

Klaus Gunther immigrated to South Africa in the mid sixties and was soon hooked on the African sky, the bush and the wildlife. In Germany, he had received technical and practical training as a master craftsman, designer and artist and, over the years, art stayed the love of his life. Klaus still had to earn a living by other means and so there were frequent breaks in his creative life. Though his many visits to Namibia, where colours and light are so irresistable, started regular bouts of creativity.
It was only after he moved to a game farm in the Limpopo Province that Klaus was inspired to pick up his passion for painting again. He perfected his very own style, working with a spatula and often adding a small, brush-painted detail. Soon he also found himself fascinated and intrigued by the beautiful pieces of indigenous wood he found in the bush and decided to try his hand in sculpting. It turned out to be his new passion and he has since produced over thirty unique pieces of sculpures.
