About "Buffalo - Waiting For The Rain"

This work is unframed (but can be supplied either framed or unframed).

Buffalo's are extremely large, ox-like animals. Standing approximately 65 inches at the soulder. adult males have a mass of up to 1760 pounds and females up to 1650 pounds.

To support the large body, the legs are very heavy. Front hooves are larger than the hind because of the extra mass they carry in the huge head and thick neck. Both sexes carry horns, wich in the males can grow to 1,5m.

About Frans

Frans Matlala

I come from a small village called Ga-Molapo in Limpopo,South Africa. I'm from a poor family background and as a child I wanted all the beautiful toys that I saw in the magazines. Unfortunately we did not have the means to afford such luxuries and I had to use whatever resources I had available to make my own toys. I would use mud, wire, tin or carton (basically anything I could find.) I started selling some of the toys to the kids in my village and tried to generate a small income for myself. My passion for art started at an early age and it was only when I went to High School that my true talent emerged. My teacher encouraged me to study fine art after I finished High School I did fine art at the Wits Technikon but because of financial difficulty I was not able to reach that dream. I still have much to learn, art is not a hobby like some might think. My art reflects my heritage, spirit, lifestyle and my soul.
