Klaus Gunther - "Hammerkop"
W: 200mm x H: 700mm x D: 200mm
Approx. Weight: 5kg
This work is unframed
When looking pieces of wood in the bush I always search for some form or shape that is secretly hidden inside. Once I work with the wood I just bring that hidden form out or just enhance it.
Klaus Gunther immigrated to South Africa in the mid sixties and was soon hooked on the African sky, the bush and the wildlife. In Germany, he had received technical and practical training as a master craftsman, designer and artist and, over the years, art stayed the love of his life. Klaus still had to earn a living by other means and so there were frequent breaks in his creative life. Though his many visits to Namibia, where colours and light are so irresistable, started regular bouts of creativity.
