About "Motherhood"

Inspired by the description of the pure relationship
by Anne Morrow Lindberg in her book [0x1]A Gift from the sea[0x1]

The pure relationship,
how beautiful it is!
how easily it is damaged,
or weighed down with irrelevancies -
not even irrelevancies, just life itself,
the accumulations of life and of time.
for the first of every relationship is pure,
whether it is with friend or lover, husband or child.
it is pure, simple and unencumbered.
It is like the artist[0x1]s vision
before he has to discipline it into form,
or like the flower of love
before it is ripened to the firm but heavy fruit of responsibility.
Every relationship seems simple at its start.
The simplicity of first love, or friendliness,
the mutuality of first sympathy seems,
at its initial appearance [0x1]
even if merely in exciting conversation across a dinner table [0x1]
to be a self enclosed world.
Two people listening to each other,
two shells meeting each other,
making one world between them.
There are no others in the perfect unity of that instant,
no other people or things or interests.
It is free of ties or claims, unburdened by responsibilities,
by worry about the future or debts of the past.

My mother was the making of me. She was so sure of me, I felt that I had someone to live for [0x1] someone I must not disappoint. The memory of my mother will always be a blessing to me [0x1] Thomas A Edison

My mother was the most beautiful woman. All I am I owe to my mother[0x1] I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her - George Washington

The future destiny of the child is always the work of the mother [0x1] Napoleon Bonaparte

About Christina

Christina Walters

Christina Walters
I was born and raised on a farm in the Swartland area near Riebeek West

With my art I attempt to express what truth is - something that cannot be measured on the laboratory bench. According to Soren Kierkegaard the truth is what ennobles.

'This is a true story which may well appear stranger than fiction, since the truth unhappily, from the point of view of those who try to serve it, is always more than literal or statistical fact. . . .
' Van der Post , L. 1975. A Mantis Carol. Cox & Wyman Ltd G B

'the morning wind forever blows, the poem of creation is uninterrupted; but few are the ears that hear it'
Bode, C., 1975. The Portable Thoreau. Penguin Books

At present I enjoy working on paper with mixed media.

I now live in Strand.
I had art training with Catharina de Bliquy, Marie Stander, Marriana Booyens, Vicky Thomas , Andries Gouws, Sarah Simblest and Monique-Day-Wilde.
