About Judy

Over the years I have used art as a form of therapy to deal with anxiety and depression. To me art has not always been a want but more of a necessity. I have been creating and developing my own style over the years. I have been influenced by the female form, street art/graffiti in South Africa and African traditional colours and patterns. I recently branched out of the abstract into the Landscape realism, as I do find the beauty of nature very appealing. During the journey I discovered another side to my artistic outlay including plein air painting.
My main body of work is still structured around the abstract field, I have been compiling a work of art titled "The New World" which incorporates a unique style. I mainly use acrylics and oil with Heavy brush strokes and later add finer detail. I also use a lot of colour and patterns in my art which I find inspired by African traditional art.
My main goal would be to encourage people and possibly start abstract art groups/workshops for people that have been through physical, emotional and sexual abuse as I truly believe it is what we keep hidden that eventually escapes, and Art is a safe and expressive world in which one can release themselves, and hopefully emerge with a stronger self-image.

I plan to continue my journey and develop new skills and hopefully inspire others to find themselves through art.
