About "Plastered Fish 2"
Three paintings together, each about 350mm x 250mm x 30mm. Do we have direction in life? Do we always know where we going? Can we see where we're going. Are we blind (even if we see?)

I was born in 1967 in South Africa to South African parents and mostly grew up in Pretoria (South Africa). My father is also an artist, I m sure that it influenced me to also create art, not only by genetics. It seems I have always been destined to be an artist, my mother said I did not walk or talk much until I was nearly two, I just drew pictures and built sand castles when we went to Plett on holiday every year. I have recently moved down to Plett permanently and is thrilled to now call it home!
In 1996, I underwent a brain operation for a blocked vein and during the operation, had a severe stroke, leaving me paralysed on my right side (I painted with my right hand) and helpless as a newborn. I had to re-learn everything. After about 2 years, with lots of determination, help and love from my parents, friends and family and rehab by professionals, I could paint again. I now paint with my left hand.
I was involved in various solo and group exhibitions in South Africa and France over the years, including the Association of Art in Pretoria (twice). I was also a finalist in the Sasol New Signature Art competition in 2009. I feel so blessed to be able to create. I live my fiancee on a farm (lodge) between Knysna and Plett and my immediate environment inspires every day - open spaces stillness, beautiful nature.
