About Daniela

Born in Cape Town, Daniela’s love of art began at an early age with the encouragement of her mother – a talented art teacher and ceramicist from Angola. Though never pursuing art through schooling, much of what she learnt during her younger years came from sitting in on classes her mother would teach.
She qualified with an Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Cape Town (2000), and furthered her studies in the field of Neuro-Art Therapy in New York. Ironically she found herself surrounded again by art, through the use of its basic fundamentals i.e. colour and shapes, to help individuals suffering from traumatic brain injury.
In 2007, with the need for change, she entered the interior design business and at the same time began to creatively express herself through painting. To date, she has sold numerous works.

I never sit to plan a piece but paint with the anticipation of wondering how it will turn out in the end. This is one of the reasons I love the freedom of using enamels… you have less control over it than other mediums and it’s often quite unpredictable.”
