Any subject matter is exciting, from animals to insects to life- like portraits in a variety of styles and colours.
If you are passionate about the African bush you might enjoy my series of nature paintings. The backgrounds are modern and textured, either with thick paint or expressive brushstrokes, or a combination of both. Much focus is required to render the anatomy precisely, and to capture unique charcteristics of South African Wildlife. I love to push the boundries of oil paint application to achieve organic-looking results which capture the essence of the bush. I am privelledged to gain much knowledge from my father, Geoff Hunter, an inspiring artist dedicated to Wildlife painting.

Exhibitions
Penelope Hunter has pursued a creative path since early 2001, exhibiting in Johannesburg galleries. Shortly before matriculating in 2003, she had a month long exhibition, sponsored by Nedbank, at Rosebank Cinema Nouveau in Johannesburg. She continued her career in fine art after school, travelled to the UK and returned at the start of 2006. She exhibits at galleries in South Africa and the UK. She is willing to undergo private and corporate commissions.

Out of the Box is an organization that teaches skills to disadvantaged, unskilled and uneducated South Africans, enabling them to find sustainable income generating opportunities by becoming teachers of skills or starting their own small businesses.

• Penny's work was on show alongside other nature artists from the 4th November-4th December 2009. Nicky Oppenheimer, Chairman of EO & Son and De Beers, and Strilli Oppenheimer opened an art exhibition titled, “The Many Facets of the Highveld – plants, animals and stones” at their home Little Brenthurst. The exhibition is a partnership initiative between the Diamond Route (an ecological, heritage and tourism initiative) and the South African National Biodiversity Institute, “SANBI”.
