Annatjie is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Annatjie’s interest started very early in her life when her mother sent her to a lady for English lessons. This lady was an artist and Annatjie was captured by the lady’s paintings. She ended up getting art lessons instead of English from this teacher.

When she completed her high school education she wanted to enroll for an Art degree but her parents refused. Seeking her own way she qualified for a bursary to study Occupational Therapy. Annatjie qualified in 1969 after which she specialised in psychiatry while working at a State Rehabilitation Centre as therapist. After practising a few years the passion of art overtook her and she started painting professionally without formal tertiary training.

Annatjie got married in her final year of studies. While the children were still in there toddler stage, herself and two other married ladies got together during the week to paint. Andrè de Beer, a well-known South African artist, played a very big role in the encouragement and motivation of her talent and career as Artist.
