About Ina

Ina Loots

Ina is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Ina studied at the University of Stellenbosch from 1976-1979 where she did a BA Art degree, specializing in Jewellery Design and Manufacturing. In 1980 she was awarded two bursaries for overseas studies and spent one year as a guest student at the Fachhochschule für Gestaltung in Pforzheim, Germany. After a year of working for a manufacturing jeweller in Stellenbosch, she set up her own workshop and has been working as an independent designer goldsmith since 1982. In 1998 she started art classes at Rina Badenhorst’s art school in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth.
In order to be able to work more creatively in the field of jewellery, she decided to close her business at the end of 2006 – also to have more time for her other passion – painting in oil. She has taken part in various group exhibitions with her jewellery as well as her paintings. She is mostly inspired by the pristine nature of the Tsitsikamma coast, where the colours and shapes of rocks and untainted sea life abounds.
She works from her studio in Walmer, Port Elizabeth, where she has been living since 1985.
