I love people. And I love to paint.
How wonderful to combine the two when you paint people?
It's a challenge and priviledge to capture some of the true character of a person. To me, that means to portray a person in the most honest way, in which I perceive them.
I mostly paint 'People of South Africa'. And in doing this, I started to appreciate other cultures and races in my country. Not to mention, the unique individualism of every single person that I paint!
In a nutshell, I would describe my style as impressionistic/ expressionistic with a strong focus on the estetical feeling of the total. It must be more, than just being a good representation of someone or resembling a likeness, it must be an estetitical work of art that can be exhibited proudly, on any wall!
I accept Portrait Study commissions. For this purpose I work closely with you, to ensure that you'll be happy with the end result. A portrait study is a very personal matter. We may view ourselves much different than those around us. People are complexed and have many facets to their personality.
