About Ilse

Ilse is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

As a child I always wanted to paint some day, but life took another route for awhile. Although I stayed in the art sphere in college it still wasn't painting and I veered off course for many years before I picked up a brush again. I am now doing what I always wanted and at the moment it is simply something I enjoy. As I am still only finding my technique and theme my paintings are still very traditional and 'silent' in a way.
I believe an artist expresses something of himself in every thing he does, therefore each painting carries a part of yourself, and whatever emotion was present during the process seems to present itself to the viewer, even if only on an indirect way or subconscious level.
I prefer working with real objects in a still-life in which I can feel the form of the object, the space and the atmosphere of the composition.
