About Damian

Damian Osborne

Damian is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

I am idealistic in my art; from the quality of my materials and the perfection of the working process, to the purity in depicting the grace and beauty of nature.
I have a long list of masters that have inspired me; I study and combine aspects that I appreciate, constantly. However, I do not believe in following any ‘established’ path blindly. I prefer to test everything and use also my own research and personal choices.
I like to be in natural surroundings, therefore love to paint awesome landscapes. I also seek to portray the beauty in simple things with my still-lifes, and enjoy the freedom of sketching charcoal portraits.

I don’t use photographs or projection to aid my painting and create field studies in pastel, charcoal or plein-air paintings before working in the studio. I make my own canvases, priming thick cotton-duck with three coats of oil primer, to ensure ultimate quality. To commercially produced canvases, there is no comparison.
