About Pera

Pera is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Pera obtained a MA Graphic Design and a MA Photography in Aachen, Germany before immigrating to South Africa.She worked as graphic designer with architects,as art director in the film industry and later as interior designer for many years. In 2005 she started to paint in oil - expierencing intense pleasure and joy from playing with colour.Pera draws her inspiration from nature and approaches her art with a perfect eye for detail. Her work is strong, full of colour and blooms with vibrant life.
In her portrait of flowers,Pera tries to capture the moment of perfect beauty and by magnifying the flower transcends the subject.The flower suddenly stands on her own and demands applause for her eternal beauty.
"I am intrigued by the brilliance of magnificient colours, variations of tones and the play of light and shadows."
Her Still Life paintings on the contrary are quiet reflections of everyday objects.
Her work is a blend of artistic precision and sensitivity to mood, colour and atmosphere.
Living in Stellenbosch she paints now full time with a growing local and international recognition.She is a partner in an artist-run gallery in the heart of Stellenbosch,ART on 5.
