I work as a professional IT Consultant. Art has forever been part of my life. I have a huge passion for everything wild and as a child I spent every available free moment in the veld collecting insects, snakes (had hundreds) and just about anything that would fit in a cage, to study, play with and make sketches and then releasing them again. My mission then would be to state that through my art and hopefully filmatic photography soon (see my website), I want to share this deep seated passion with like-minded investors who share the same values and others who simply appreciate my particular style and taste. I have been painting and sketching for the past 35 years.
My current choice of subject is our rich heritage of Rock Art which are, to me, exquisitely beautiful in it's simplicity, painted on beautifully aged stone backgrounds which form a natural and perfect backdrop, to tell wonderful stories of a bygone era, of a people and a lifestyle that does not exist anymore, of the hardships, the joys, and close knit bonds that enabled these interesting people to survive in their harsh environment.
These paintings will be followed by more, telling different stories and I take my queue from actual Rock art paintings and environments, mix it a bit, but staying true to style, subject matter and colour to allow the investor to own a bit of true Africa; the Beginning, or Cradle of Humankind, besides, the only alternative is to come and visit our caves and NOT take it home!
What I also create, is artificial rock pieces and and creating the same effect on that panel. The project is underway and as soon as it is finished, I will upload images of that.
Paintings and sketches have always been done on demand. Santam Insurance Branch Office commission for set of elephants (famous ones) in pencil, 1987. Paintings usually sold out of hand, exhibited at home, to interested parties.
