About "Portrait of a Lady"

Exquisitely painted and varnished, this piece captures the light and personality of the subject perfectly. Completion time was almost 3 months, approximately 20 layers of oil paint were used to achieve the glowing effect ( an effect that can never be translated by photograph! ). Vermeer's intricate techniques were used to add depth and subtlety to the pigments.

I'm a self-taught artist who never learned the rules. I paint quite wildly so paint gets everywhere, occasionaly on the canvas. Art materials make me quite ill, so I must paint quickly - my style is one that came by nature, but perhaps represents the pure love of paint itself - uncontrollable, sometimes messy, dangerous love.
