All of us strife to survive and to be successful. Some of us give up and some of us stand strong against the challenges of life. This abstract painting is decorative, because it consists of lines which I based on one of the Ndebele patterns. |

Salome is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa. The "zeitgeist" or spirit of our time consists of so many facets and changes daily, for example the fashion that was old can even become new. I like to adapt to those changes and most of the viewers say that my artworks are something different. My artworks resemble my perception of my identity as a Caucasian middle class South African woman versus the world in which I live. 'Self' in my milieu is what I am most familiar with. My focus is on the celebration of femininity, its strength and beauty, with so many experiences that is yet to be discovered. I use flowers, mannequins and butterflies as motives to resemble femininity. Femininity and Art have one thing in common and that is that they are both expected to be aesthetically appealing. I create sculpture, paintings and drawings fulltime at my studio, named SHigh Art, at the Butterfly farm, Ramsgate in South Africa and some of them I created in London. By creating the artworks, I discover an objective viewpoint of my personal growth as a spiritual woman and artist. At the moment I am striving for simplicity as Les Corbusier said "Less is more". My paintings are therefore minimalistic. I accept commissions for drawings, paintings and sculptures.
