The Madikwe Game Reserve has a large number of these dead leadwood trees. They make for the most amazing sillhouete and abstract images.

Gerry van der Walt

Gerry is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

To me photography is about capturing the moment. Telling a story with a single image. It’s about seeing light, texture, composition, emotion. Ultimately your equipment is not as important as having vision – being able to see the image even before clicking the shutter.

Ansel Adams said: “You do not take a photograph, you make it!” This is what I hope to do.

I have been lucky enough to work on North Island in the Seychelles and on board the Queen Mary 2 but I still feel that being able to share images of Africa is a privilege and I hope you enjoy my images as much as I enjoy creating them.

All images , unless otherwise stated, were taken in the wild in various Nature Reserves and Game Parks throughout Africa.
If you have any special requests or commissions I would also be more then happy to assist.
