About "Substitute Printmaker"

The inspiration from this work comes from the dramatic effects that a single light sourcing produces, especially in the area of portrait and figure work.
It is an old, laborious, labor intensive technique, but the subtleties of lights and darks that you are able to get are absolutely fascinating and awe inspiring. Mezzotints truly are one of the most dramatic expressions not only of printmaking, but all other mediums of work. It was the ‘masters’ use to dabble with!
