Location (with the artist) Reference ddhc1 About "Contemplation" I started this painting with something entirely different in mind. I let inspiration guide me when doing a painting. I have a saying that I let the canvass "tell me" what it wants. In this case what started out to be a still life ended up as a nude. |

Duane is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa. As an artist my inspriation comes from what I experience and see happening around. In most of my work I try to portray a feeling or my mental and emotional state at the time of creating the piece. I also tend to avoid the use of brushes in my work, I apply the paint directly to the canvas with my hand and fingers. I feel this adds a bit of myself to each work, making every one a bit more personal and also add more depth and texture to the work. My inspiration often takes hold while I am busy with a piece and I end up with something totaly different to what I had in mind when starting.
