About "Big 5 mono"
I have done the big 5 in oil twice, water colour once and thought no one had done it in pastel [that I know of]. There are probably some out there. Also everyone always does colour so it was a challenge to do it in black & white and shades of grey. It turned out well. The frame is old, carved & genuine wood which I stripped down and repainted with acrylic charcoal grey and then dry brushed with a silver oil paint. The combination came out great and would look good anywhere. The artwork is presently in a small gallery in Waterfall, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa
Bernice is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.
I have been painting/sketching for 8 years. I studied under Eve Page [well known artist in Natal] & Stephen Shooter, Natal[who received two highly commended awards from the Water Colour Society of SA for his work] for 3 and 2 years respectively. I am artistic by nature and have always been creative. After many years in a corporate environment, decided to do what I enjoy. I find varied subjects interesting to paint and very rarely do two of the same subject unless it is in two different media. I try to find interesting and differing subjects. I feel inspired by a subject that says something to me. I have done some photography specifically with the still life works. My artistic moods are varied as are my paintings.
I have exhibited in a Gallery in Waterfall and locally in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. I have also exhibited in a Gallery in Johannesburg and sold the painting that was on display. I have sold paintings privately and would love to have my own gallery to give unknown artists, of which there are many, me included, the opportunity to display there beautiful works.
