About "Cattle in Trial of Strength"

This is a subtly coloured painting of trek oxen with two of the animals in the foreground – their heads locked as they push each other in mock battle; a trial of strength in which neither animal is hurt.
The diversity of hide colour and patterns create a pleasing visual effect. The other trek oxen lie resting in the background.
