“My style is highly intuitive, concentrating on the emotional side of life. My work concentrates on social commentary, especially focusing on the relational circumstances in modern society. I believe our character is formed by life’s joys and tragedies. All creativity is born through The Creator, and in Him all creation finds it’s purpose....and one of our greatest purposes... to impact the lives of those around us in a positive manner.
I spend the first four years (2003 – 2007) concentrating on realism and photo realism, specialising in commissioned portraits and other smaller works, in oil on canvas. This laid a valuable foundation for my later abstract and surrealist work. Though working mostly in oils, I do experiment with various media, ranging from pastels to podge, lending a very experimental side to my work. My work is characterised by vibrant colours and elements of realism contrasted by highly emotive brush strokes. There is also a very distinct spiritual quality to my work.
My greatest influences include, but are in no way limited to; Frida Kahlo, Lucien Freud, Casper David Friedrich, Max Ernst, Salvador Dali and anyone and everyone with a passion for the artistic and an ability to look beyond the mundane...
I now lead a quiet life, minding my own business and working with my hands... surrounded by my two toddlers, who (alas,) are still learning how to lead a quiet life, and my vibrant husband, who balance my tranquillity completely.”
