Priya is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Art was always a true gift to my father who fortunately passed his artistic flair on to me and from a very young age I began sketching subject matter of great detail. I considered everything "art" and still do. Art to me is outstanding when we see feelings and inhibitions coiled into it. I studied art in school but decided to further my knowledge of the human mind so I studied my BA degree in Psychology on a tertiary level. I consider myself a very deep thinker and so my two most important skills gel quite nicely for me. (Psychology and art)
I love all facets of life and so a lot of my subject matter revolve around beginnings (eg.birth), endings(eg. death) and everything in-between that we all seem to term "Life". To me life is all about balance in nature - for every positive there has to be a negative and vice versa. How most people perceive the world is common, that is, everything positive is beautiful but little seem to see beauty in the balance. It is merely human behaviour that tips natures balance off its axis; this is what negates natural beauty. I could go on and on and many might misunderstand or even disagree but my my main point here is to give a brief explanation of my feelings that inspire my work and if I could put it in one sentence it would be: Life and nature in its purest forms inspire me. My paintings encompasses a lot on birth, death, natural disasters, the beauty of nature: fauna and flora, cultures in particular those few that care for nothing like material gain but rather for their survival like the Kalahari Bushmen (there are only a few families left and are regarded as an endangered culture/people. During my visit to a reservation in the north western Province we visited a family of Bushmen for a day and it was truly magical to see how peaceful and simple they really are. We walked with them and they taught us about the bush and hunting , we ate with them in their small little huts , I carried their beautiful baby- it was mind blowing - TRUE INSPIRATION.)etcetera.
