About "SATS GENERAL BOTHA"

I was commissioned by the SATS GENERAL BOTHA Old Boys Association Board of Trustees to paint this old lady of the South African Maritime tradition. The painting will hang in the SA Navy Museum in Simon's Town.

Tim Johnson

Tim is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

After leaving school I joined the South African Navy, intending to study Fine Art on completion of a 2 year period of service. I soon found that I could paint, exhibit and sell while pursuing a Naval career in parallel. 26 years later, having had a wonderful and successful time, I decided to spend the rest of my life as a full-time artist.

Most of my paintings have been commissioned, and I have sold almost exclusively from my website at tbdj.wordpress.com.

Given my Naval background, many of my older works are maritime paintings and portraits of Naval Officers. I still focus on portraits, maritime subjects and the sea, but have diversified my subjects since 2001.

I'm inspired by the absolute pleasure and stimulating challenges of completing paintings that work.
