About "4 packets of nails and a pencil"

This painting was inspired by the actual packets of nails on my drawing board, but it is really a reflection on the creative process. Nails are a recurring image in art; Picasso used them to signify emotion and Dogon sculptors hammered them into fetishes to imbue them with power and energy.
