About Elsabe

Elsabe Nortje

Elsabe is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

I was raised in Sutherland between rocky outcrops, bushes and beautiful people. My high school years were spent in Rawsonville and Wellington, whereafter I studied Arts and Communication at the University of Stellenbosch.

After marrying Stephan Nortjé and raising our two children, I started a playgroup for preschoolers, which led me to study Montessori - I made a strong effort to try and grow up with the children!

Not long after the empty-nest-syndrome ignited, my art dreams strongly flared up once again. I attended drawing and painting classes with Andrew Owen, which led me to meet Peter Vermaak. Under his guidance I was able to let my individual creativity rapidly develop. Although the human figure remains my passion and an exciting challenge, I dare my hand to include scenery and creating movement.
