Elaine is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.
My personal journey with art thus far has been one of self discovery, healing & spiritual growth. Ever since completing my first canvas painting in 2006 I have wanted to do nothing else but indulge in my greatest passion, for the beautiful gift of creation is akin to being at one with the Divine, the greatest creator of all.
I have been selling mainly on a private commission basis, collaborating the personal ideas & desires of the client with my own artistic vision & intuition. I enjoy experimenting with unusual colour combinations & challenging conventional painting practices.
In my customized portraits I strive to capture the essence of the subject's spirit, in order to give the piece a unique magical quality, which I am able to do intuitively via photographs.
In my fantasy works I explore both the dark & lighter sides of the psyche, believing strongly that the one cannot exist harmoniously without the other, just as yin cannot exist without yang. I believe "There is great beauty to be found in Darkness", & embracing that beauty eliminates our worst enemy, fear, the source of all that is wrong with our world.
As an intuitive artist it is my desire to reveal that which is hidden - in myself as well as the viewer. Very often, an artwork that is most disquieting to an individual is the very image that has the most to offer in terms of personal transformation, just as the feared "death" card in the tarot in fact heralds great new beginnings.
My ultimate goal with my work is to make other possibilities & dimensions accessible to all those who dare to dream...
"Anything & everything that anyone can think of or imagine at any given moment, exists somewhere & sometime in Creation...
Update - March 2011: I am currently going through a huge spiritual awakening. The person I loved & trusted more than anyone in the world (my so called 'soul mate') turned out to be a very sick, evil & twisted con-artist, who not only caused my loved ones & me immeasurable emotional pain & suffering over many years, but recently put my & our child's very lives in grave danger. What carried me through this hellish experience, besides the incredible support of my loving & wonderful friends & family, was putting all my trust in spirit...I was literally carried & counseled directly by my angels, the great & mighty archangels, ascended masters, & my beautiful angelic dad (who had passed on last year). To have come out of such an awful experience with my mind, body & soul not only intact, but stronger than ever, is nothing short of a miracle of God. I don't know exactly how yet, but from here I will definitely be devoting my life energy to serving humanity. Perhaps it will be through art, perhaps through spiritual healing, but regardless I see myself always painting & creating, only now there will be extra love & compassion behind everything I endeavor! (you can definitely expect to see less of the 'darker' works in future, which were largely influenced by, & an expression of, a very dark & lonely period of my life)
