About "The Hills Are Alive"

There was just something about seeing these hills that caused me to burst out in song .... these hills are alive with the sound of music, letting one just take a deep breath and experience the freedom and exuberance that wells up as you take in the vastness of the countryside. This is a larger than average artwork, but is also available in other sizes ..... feel free to ask me about the various options.

Jessica is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

What first inspired my love of art was my wonderful husband Malcolm Turner (who is also an artist) whose excitement and exuberance for life spills over into everything he does and whoever he meets. Seeing art through his eyes inspired me in my quest to not only photograph scenes of interest but to also find ways to enhance their beauty. By using various software applications, it allows me the liberty to create and transform basic images into whatever I desire using color, texture, form, depth and composition. I am also able to change the genre to reflect an abstract, impressionistic and enhanced brushstroke effect.

Whenever choosing a scene, whatever form it comes in, I always look for that intangible “something” that makes it special, if only to me. I believe that when we view any kind of art, it should evoke certain feelings, certain emotions within us at the most fundamental level. For me it must have something to it, something you can't define, just outside the realm of the senses. To be sure, art needs structure and all the other elements like shadow and light and good composition and depth, but for me it also needs that primal ‘Oomph!’ to reach out to us.

As a result of my quest, I am now able to provide high resolution quality canvas prints of graphically enhanced photographic images at affordable prices. I use the Giclée printing method with long lasting Canon Lucia Ex inks imported from Denmark, with a 20% wider color gamut than any other inks on high quality Matte canvas media to ensure a quality product that will look great and last for more than 75 years. All canvas prints have a water resistant Satin Acrylic coating applied to protect, preserve and enhance the work without altering the original color.

Gallery Wrap Edge - Image is mirrored to create a seamless edge once stretched.
Colored Edge - Colored edge using a complementary color from the image.
