About "late afternoon aeroplanes"

One of a series of drawings made in my mother's garden in Grahamstown in 1998, before the uglification of the neighbourhood by avaricious developers began. She now lives in the CBD... These drawings are a precious memory for me.
The title was inspired by the feelings evoked by the drone of light aircraft practising flying in the Grahamstown area on Saturday afternoons - hot, lazy days.

anton brink

anton is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

I work in a range of styles, techniques and materials to create powerful and evocative works in both 2 and 3 dimensions. My subject matter has a mainly psychological and spiritual slant. I am a painter by training, but much of my more personal work has taken the form of installations, tableaux and mixed media sculptures. I have worked and exhibited extensively internationally and am represented in private and institutional collections in Europe, South Africa, Australia and the USA. I am willing to consider commissions for artworks and illustrations.

When not making visual art, I play electric bass with a Grahamstown-based progressive blues band called Sun shiP.
