About Juanita
Juanita is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.
Her field of specialization includes Fine Art and Corporate Commissions for the Engineering, Aviation and Military sector, being a Reserve Force member in the SA National Defence Force since the age of 17. She first served as a Signaler before undergoing full-time military training in 1999, whereupon she joined the SA Engineer Corps.
At present she is serving in the Reserve Force as an Engineer NCO and has been commissioned for military paintings on display at 44 Parachute Engineer Regiment and the SA Army Engineer Formation headquarters.
During 2011, the SA Air Force Museum at Swartkop Air Force Base commissioned her for a painting of the Museum Douglas C-47 Dakota, as part of the Dakota's 75th Anniversary maiden flight commemorations.
Recent commissions include Corporate Portraits executed in various media.
Other works express experiences and memories acquired during overland trips through Namibia and rural South Africa and subsequently also Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Some of these genre works are being executed under her maiden name, J.D. Johnson.
Her works form part of several private and corporative collections, both locally and internationally. She regularly participates in The Association of Arts Pretoria and Centurion Art Association Members' Exhibitions.
Merging visual and performing arts, she follows an integrative approach in teaching art for groups and individuals through "Colour and Chord Art Studio".
Juanita currently resides in Centurion with her sons and husband, Gerhard.
