About "Misty Muizenberg"

Muizenberg beach is just about five minutes drive from my home. One of my chief challenges is ensuring that I keep finding fresh images of this beautiful area. One of my chief blessings is that the beauty of this place changes from day to day, and sometimes even from moment to moment.

This photo was taken early in the evening, just ahead of a powerful cold front rolling in from Antarctica. Mist and evening light resulted in the soft, pastel shades captured in this image.

Robin Bownes

Robin is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My father has a photograph of me, at age 3, taking a photograph of him. In high school I discovered that photography and a camera confidently wielded, provided access to people & places that might otherwise have been out of reach.

However, what fascinated me from the very beginning, was that I could capture moments in time, manipulate them, and turn them into art. Digital photography and editing has of course opened previously unimagined possibilities in this regard. The digital age has forever changed what it means to be a photographer. Photography now includes not only 'pure' photographic images, straight from the camera, but also digital imaging art, using photographs as a starting point and framework for new artistic, photographic possibilities.

I believe that photography is art if it is treated as such. I believe that art requires constant experimentation, learning and pushing of boundaries. I believe that creativity and its appreciation is a basic function of humanity. I don't believe in limiting myself to any one style or aspect of my art.
