About Susan
Susan is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.
To paint and express emotion on board or canvas is what I really want to do. I am a full time artist an love what I do !This is a new chapter as I have closed my own business after almost 20 years to focus on my art full time as this is what I love to do. It comes naturally and is so easy for me - it feel like I am writing a story on canvas - it feels part of me.

Local art on display Durbanville-based wedding couture designer and artist Susan Ellis Steinhauser will be holding her second art exhibition at her studio in November, this time in collaboration with artists Martin Sodoms, Brenton Swartz and Patrick Botto.
Ellis Steinhauser has been applying her creative talent to boxed canvas since late 2008. Her first exhibition, which coincided with the opening of her new design studio in Durbanville in 2010, was highly successful in introducing her as an upcoming artist.
Her loose, expressionistic style, applied mostly in acrylics or as an acrylic and charcoal combination, is a strong reflection of her emotion and desire to experiment with different media. Her subject matter ranges from portraits to landscapes and buildings, wildlife and Africa, flowers, seascapes and abstract.
Sodoms, who was a student at the Mouth and Foot Painters Association, has exhibited his work several times at the Bellville Art Centre. As a member of the QuadPara Association of South Africa, his work is exhibited annually, along with other accomplished mouth and foot artists.
Swartz started mouth painting for the first time in 1999 but two years later took a break to study architecture. He resumed painting in 2008. Botto, a former student of the Bellville Art Centre, has been painting since 1998.
Pauline Nel, owner of D’vine Wine & Dine, winemaker and tour guide, will be exhibiting her crystal glass wear at the exhibition. A portion of the proceeds of the sales from Nel’s glassware, as well as Ellis Steinhauser’s works, will be donated to the Andries Olivier Centre for Quadriplegics.
Members of the public are invited to view the exhibition at the Susan Ellis Art Studio & Gallery, 2 Nutans Street, Proteaville, Durbanville from 1 to 3 November 2011, 15h00 to 22h00.
