About Johan

Johan is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Sebastiaan Johan Rabe was born and bred in Cape Town. During the late 1950’s he started going to motor race meetings with his father. As he always liked to draw, his subject was mostly cars and motor racing. In 1978 he started painting in oils and for the last number of years he switched to acrylics.
He has done a number of commissions for private buyers over the years, and took part in exhibitions of the Fish Hoek Art Society in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. He also exhibited his work at various motor shows.
Since moving to Oudtshoorn, his work was selected for a number of winter exhibitions of the well known Strydom Art Gallery in George in the Southern Cape. An article on his work as a motorsport artist appeared in the August edition of SA MotorSport.
His passion for motorsport can clearly be seen in his paintings, whether of circuit racing or rallying. He also paints portraits of well known racing and rally drivers.
