Location (with the artist) About "washing in the river" The relfection on the water , as well as the hard work this woman in undertaking inspired me to paint this scene. I am intrigued with how penguin ink interacts with the high quality fabriano paper and results in the wide variety of tonal values one is able to get with just ONE type of ink watered down to different strengths. |

Cathy is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa. Cathy Milner lives and works on a farm just outside Stellenbosch. She gives art lessons as well as working on her paintings, etchings and drawings. She is largely influenced by the surrounding landscape of the Boland and being a keen local traveller, other dramatic areas around the Western Cape. She is also interested in figure painting and trying to capture the inherent personality of the model or subject she has chosen to paint. She is also running an art workshop at her studio for the local children from the surrounding farms. She co ordinates and gives art lessons to them in conjunction with the Pebbles project, which helps children with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome and children living with the effects of alcohol abuse.
