About "Paternoster Vissermanne"

I took a picture years ago of this dissapointed Paternoster fishermen when they came back from the sea and could not manage to catch any fish. I drew the line drawing with a fine point permanent marker onto transparency and developed the polymer plate with the transparency emulsion-down in the contact frame in the sun's exposure and inked and printed the plate the same intaglio way as normal, tradional etchings.

About Gretha

Gretha Helberg

Gretha is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

I liked drawing things from an early age - I remember trying to capture the beauty of the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, my country of birth when I was a mere four years old! I guess I can say I enjoy to create something, being it oil paintings, acrylic paintings, etchings, pencil drawings or cement sculptures, it does not really matter what I am creating, as long as I enjoy what I am doing.

I think it is the whole process of being immersed in my work while creating it, my eyes see something, my heart gets a feeling for the subject and then, the final stage, my hands make the artwork, whether it is a drawing, painting or sculpture. Life inspires me - people around me, wildlife in their wild surroundings, the beauty of God's creations - I try to capture this all in my art.
