About "Township Scene"

Peter Sibeko was born in 1940 and started drawing at the age of 10. He had a very limited education but with the encouragement of his brother, Walter and the assistance of artist, David Mbele, he was able to develop his talent and become a full-time professional artist.

Sibeko works predominantly in pastels, pencil, watercolours, charcoal, and oils on sand. He portrays the South African township life with a naive and colourful atmosphere.

Sibeko has become a very well known and acclaimed artist who has participated in group and solo exhibitions locally and abroad. Recently, he relocated to New York where he is very much in demand.

This particular piece is unframed.
