About "Wetsuit-wet"

I was at a beach on holiday in 2012 and as I was walking to the beach, I saw surfers rinsing themselves at the beach showers. The water splashing over them made their wetsuits shiny and accentuated their figures. I took a few snap-shots for references and two years later, while going through my photographs, found the pix and decided that I would like to paint it.

About Marcel

Marcel Auret is a mechanical technologist and fine arts artist based in Pretoria,
South Africa, where he was born in 1975.
Marcel holds a bachelor[0x1]s degree in mechanical engineering and has recently
started to work for himself as a freelance mechanical engineering consultant and
as a fine arts artist.
Showing a rare artistic talent at an early age, Marcel went for private art
lessons as a child, where he learned to work with water colours, pastels, charcoal,
and oil pastels. During his high school years he developed an interest in technical
subjects. After graduating from high school his passion for cars led him to enrol at
the Technikon of Pretoria[0x1]s faculty for mechanical engineering where he pursued
his dream of becoming an automotive designer. As his career matured, he
turned his focus to the challenging field of bulk materials handling,
where he now specializes as a conveyor and transfer chute designer.

Marcel never lost touch with the artist in him, having taken up oil painting in the
early 90's. His artistic character is constantly growing from super realism and
the quest for technical visual perfection, to the ultimate challenge of capturing
the lives, stories, emotions, beauty, and visual characters of the subjects. His
quest is to manipulate light through paint and charcoal in such ways that his
viewers will be able to enjoy living canvases as an added value to their daily
lives. Instead of portraying the dramatic struggle of everyday life and creating
a sense of depression, Marcel decided to focus on the beauty of life and in doing
so, produce paintings that brighten up the atmosphere of the rooms that they are kept in.
