About Lauren
We are ever evolving beings - opinions , experiences , emotions , the energy of life and the people we share it with. These are things that come through in my work. I am fond of Salvador Dali , Vincent Van Gogh and Francis Bacon. Elements of their style and concepts echo through some of my pieces.
In terms of execution , I feel torn between the perfectionistic famous sfumato technique Da Vinci mastered , the freedom of abstract expressionism , as well as a love for texture and depth. There are so many options and beautiful things to be created , its almost impossible to stay in the box of one technique. Variety is the spice of life.
I'm currently shifting my focus to the sky's and beyond. Yes , the cosmos !
Besides the rich , gorgeous palette it has to offer , the mystery and wonder is irresistibly alluring.
We are currently in the age of looking up. More and more we are exploring and discovering the infinite space above. I feel we are in a transition faze of new conciseness and a way of being. So , naturally my art ( my focus ) is reflecting that.
My paintings have found homes all over the world.
Itala Bank bought my first piece.
Belize House of Commons displays "The Face of an Angel".
I have done a few paintings for charities , politically natured events and of Old Down Manor - previously owned by Mike Oldfield.
I am highly critical of my own work and take great pride in what I do.
