About "Aerial Support"
I really enjoy painting the sweeping landscapes of South Africa but when I feel like more detailed work, I get up close and personal with my 'Jester' series, and their never ending search for the elusive cabernet.
Rendered with a passion and technical facility reminiscent of the Old Masters, Simon's landscapes evoke the spirit of the Eastern Highlands' bleached winter grasses, veldfires, and old stone houses under brooding skies. His travels in search of soulful scenery produce moody studies of wintry Natal Midlands river-courses and wetlands, and deserted Northern Cape farmhouses.
