The painting draws on the work by Masaccio entitled "Death of Ananias and Distribution of Alms", placing the event in a somewhat surreal African rural context, with the watchful wife of Ananias with baby near a baobab tree, a Great White Shark swimming past, women trudging long distances carrying heavy loads, a hen and a few fish.
