About "Cape Lion"
I felt inspired to face the challenge of doing a wildlife painting as I hadn't tried and felt intimidated about trying because I knew it would involve alot of detail. As with all my works I will have intention and passion before starting so I can channel that passion into the interpretation of moods and emotions expressed by colors textures and composition. And when choosing my reference of a lion, I selected four different pictures to paint from for each part of his face, the eyes, the open mouth, the main and the eyes. The sunset was my own creation as was the flowers to add depth and that Cape feel to the painting. His main is beautiful and has flickers of bronze/ gold and magenta to compliment with an incredible light yellow just catching the edges of where the sunlight touches from behind and outlining the edge of his body. He really is a warrior. Enjoyed doing this piece and will certainly do another wildlife.
About Tabitha Cheree
I am inspired by purpose and everything it teaches us. Colour I believe holds energy and can make a person feel a certain way. Just the same as what we see with our eyes makes us feel a certain way. To be able to captivate an individual by having them stare into one of your paitings, and to stop and be still and to pay attention to the way a painting makes you feel is so important. My ultimate goal in life is to heal people and bring more peace into their lives by choosing the compositions and colours that I do.
I have exhibited some of my work in the Melkbos art gallery.
Matriculated from Ferndale High School in Gauteng.
