 About Leon
1943- 2019From an early age, my world was perceived through blunted sight. The metaphysical, mythology, poetry, literature, spirit of place and the eternal adventure in the exploration of being, have been a constant source of inspiration. The work of Odysseus Elytis, Nikos Kazantzakis and Federico Garcia Lorca has inspired several exhibitions. A container with the entire household and studio contents were lost overboard in transit to Belgium, resulting in an edition of a series of etchings, Quylibed's Odyssey, several paintings on the theme were exhibited at various galleries in Belgium. Koi-San tales provided material for my story telling projects at schools and cultural centres throughout Flanders, inviting the visual magic of light, colour, rhythm, poetry and form.
