About "Cyborg"

Inspired by the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. The quote painted on the side reads: [0x1]Did I request thee, Maker, from my clay, To mould me Man, did I solicit thee From darkness to promote me? John Milton, Paradise Lost.[0x1]

About Carine

Carine de Villiers

I live in a small town in the heart of the Free State where life is rural and raw, and slow, I love it. My father is an artist and I never aimed for this career, but after a lot of starts and stops, this calling never seizes to entertain me. It suits me so, as it keeps up with my quirks, fleeting obsessions, the ups and downs of life, and my rollercoaster mind! I love working with watercolor, it moves&flows, dries quickly, can do very fine detail, and boldly carries a bit of gold-leaf for that extra POP! And the color, oh the color!! Working with visual texture contrasts is my favorite, the crisp edges of a porcelain teacup next to the softness of bird feathers. I love to paint birds as these creatures are brightly colored, manageable and has so much personality. They symbolize from freedom, flight, birth, survival and more. Just like my they are busybodies and chirping away! I also love to paint porcelain cups, for much the same reasons. I particularly love to paint the gold luster rims of the vintage collections and feel a great thrill every time when it look like I can actually touch it. Furthermore I love to try my hand at painting flowers, portraiture and some-or-other thing that catches my eye. It is my joy!
